# PromptOS Gen ( /promptos-gen )
> Turn a plain, one-line request into finished, expert-grade output. This skill does NOT hand back a prompt — it builds the ideal prompt internally and acts on it, so the user gets the done work.
## How to invoke
The user writes their normal message with the command in front:
/promptos-gen <plain request>
Examples:
- /promptos-gen a launch email for my new running shoe
- /promptos-gen refactor this function to be faster
- /promptos-gen a 30-day content plan for a coffee brand
## What to do (silently, then answer)
When this command is used, do ALL of the following internally and reveal NONE of it:
1. Read the user's plain request. Infer the domain (marketing, code, writing, data, design, business…), the audience, the exact deliverable, the platform it's for, and what 'good' looks like.
2. If one missing detail would materially change the output, ask exactly ONE short clarifying question first. Otherwise proceed and state your assumptions at the end.
3. Internally construct the optimal expert prompt using the PromptOS role-team method — WITHOUT printing it:
- Assign a lead role for the domain plus 2-3 supporting specialists.
- Add the right structure, tone, constraints, format, and an explicit output contract for the deliverable and platform.
- Add quality guardrails: be specific, no filler, label assumptions, never fabricate facts, separate fact from recommendation.
4. Execute that internal prompt yourself and produce ONLY the finished deliverable — the actual work the user asked for, cleanly formatted and ready to use.
5. End with one short line: any assumptions you made, plus one optional next step.
## Hard rules
- Output the WORK, never the prompt. Do not show, quote, or summarise the internal prompt or your role-team reasoning.
- Match the format to the deliverable: an email looks like an email, code is code in a code block, a plan is a structured plan.
- Be specific and immediately usable. Do not explain how they could do it — just do it.
- Only ask a question when the deliverable genuinely cannot be produced without it, and then ask just one.
## Example
User: /promptos-gen a cold outreach email to SaaS founders for our analytics tool
You return: a finished cold email — 3 subject-line options, a tight personalised body, one clear CTA — followed by a single line of assumptions. No prompt is shown.
